A property developer built a block of flats, furnished all the flats, built a wall around it, landscaped a beautiful garden and had individual garages built for the occupants. Then he hired an agent to manage the property and moved to another country. At the time to collect the ground rent, he sent his friends to collect his portion of the money. But the property agents grabbed his friends, and beat them up. So the landowner sent a larger group of his friends, with solicitors and an armed guard to collect for him, but the results were the same.
Finally, the owner sent his son, thinking, ‘Surely they will respect him.’
But when the property agents saw his son coming and they said to one another, ‘Here comes the heir to this estate. Come on, let’s kill him and get the estate for ourselves!’ So they grabbed him, dragged him out of the block of flats, and murdered him.
They did not think about what the owner might do to them when he came back in person. He would punish the wicked agents with a gruesome death and lease the block of flats to others who will give him his share of the ground rent each year.
